Trip to Gold Head was fun!

Thank you for allowing your scouts attend the hike at Goldhead State Park. Everyone had some good exercise and fun. We saw a Giant Red headed Woodpecker and a variety of skinks and birds. We learned about the old Mill at Gold head from the early 1900's and even posed for photos on the crossover bridge where the old mill once ground corn into flower and grits. We are looking forward to the next trip.

How many families would like to overnight camp at Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park. Call me and we will set it up as soon as I have a couple of Families committed.

Jacksonville Suns "Scouting In the Outfield"

This Friday, Troop and Pack 323 will attend camping in the outfield again hosted by our home town Jacksonville Suns Baseball team.
Don't forget to bring your baseball gloves to the game. Families are encouraged to eat prior to the game. dollar menu is how we roll, lol. The food is delicious at the game but better pack a few extra dollars if you want to eat at the game.

Meet at CCS 5:30pmLeave CCS for game 5.45pm
Game starts at 7:05pm
We will meet at the CCS at 5:30 pm and will caravan to The Jacksonville Sports Complex and be allowed to use the Green Field passes from the previous game that was rained out. I look forward to seeing everyone in uniform for the game and we will immediately camp out after the game.
NOTE If you want to leave early and stop at Mickie D's or Taco Barfs we can leave as soon as everyone is ready and eat as a group on the way to the game. I would like to meet at the park gate at 6:30 so we have an oppourtunity to participate in the pre-game US Flag ceromony.

After game, exit the park, relocate your vehicles to the designated overnight camping area for unloading and secure overnight parking.
Set up tents as a unit. We all work until camp is set up.

Boy Scouts will serve lite refreshments AFTER camp is set up. Each Scout or Cub will be expected to set up or help pitch the tent he is going to sleep in. Parents, please be there to supervise but remember, the scout MUST help with the task of pitching the tents so they can earn the required badge.

Bring this for camping:
Green Field Pass from the Game April 30Th.
Tent for you and your Scout or Cub. (boys may choose to share a tent).
Sleeping Bag.
Tooth brush and minimal toiletries etc.
Change of clothes if you choose to change
2-3 Water bottles for each person attending.e after the game.
"we will take a Troop / Pack photo IN uniform but after that you may choose to change into your service class uniform "Troop/Pack Tees shirt and shorts".

Suggestions:
Pillow.
Granola bars, pre-popped popcorn, fruit, light snacks or lunch-ables. Less messy means the less need for cleanup items.
No power is available to heat food and no campfires are allowed.
Pre-cook your hot dogs/hamburgers is my suggestion with minimum condiments.
etc" ketchup, mustard, mayo packets rather than bottles".

I will bring this:
I will have a 5 gallon cooler with filtered water and ice that I will share with everyone" . Your water bottles can serve as cups to refill from this cooler so don't waste our drinking water kids. I will bring a medium to large cooler of ice to keep things cool and I may have some extra space in it and extra cooler of ice in my truck. let me know and I will decide on what size cooler I will bring. Remember, YOU will have to carry everything in and out of the camping area yourself so let that be your guide.

Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts BRING YOUR SCOUT MANUALS so we can update them. If you dont have a manual, please let me know and I will buy them from the Scout Store and you can repay me on Friday.
